According to the 2016 Healthy Living Index Survey, 46 percent of Filipinos do not get enough sleep, and 32 percent get less than six hours of sleep. Whether it’s just Monday or TGIF, being busy for extended periods of time inadvertently messes with our sleep schedule.
Here are three ways to sleep soundly to start your week right:
Indulge in nightly aromatherapy
Using calming and relaxing essential oils before bedtime can help to induce sleep. Sandalwood, lavender, and chamomile are some scents that can ease the mind, soothe restlessness, and restore regular sleeping patterns.
Pamper yourself with luxurious beddings
Nothing is more comforting than laying on a warm and plush bed after a day at work or sightseeing. An ideal ensemble of a plush mattress and feather bed, cozy duvet, fluffy pillows, and luxurious linen allows you to dream away in utmost comfort. Go all out and purchase comfortable sleepwear, whether it be pajamas or soft robes.
Work off your stress
Physical movement is considered rest too. Yes, this is sounds contradicting but it can help relieve stress. Not just for maintaining your physique, exercising during the day definitely helps increase the chances of falling asleep at night. It is also healthy to take an hour or two to just empty your thoughts and relax. A little stretching and yoga will help loosen tight muscles. Have a light snack before working out for energy, and another one after to replenish lost fluids and electrolytes.
