Meet Valentina Sampaio, Victoria’s Secret’s first transgender model!
The 22-years-old Brazilian shookt the internet and social media upon the announcement. Valentina is a model and actress who started her career by walking in São Paulo Fashion Week. In 2017, she appeared in several campaigns including L’Oréal Paris and Balmain. In the same year, she graced the cover of the March issue of Vogue Paris, making her the first-ever trans model to land the cover of the renowned fashion magazine.
Aside from Vogue, she also appeared on the cover of Elle Mexico, and was featured in Vanity Fair Italy and Marie Claire Brazil.
While we celebrate this good news and milestone, not everybody is rejoicing.
Ed Razek, the Victoria’s Secret chief marketing officer who commented that the public was not interested in seeing trans models and plus-size women in the brand’s high-profile campaigns, resigned days after Valentina was hired.

With the recent rumored cancellation of the 2019 Victoria’s Secret fashion show, we still hope to see Valentina walk the runway soon.
