You need some rest–and by rest, we mean going to the beach or rather beaches to escape reality. As for what beach, we don’t mean the usual suspects like Boracay and Palawan. The Philippines isn’t made up of 7,641 islands for anything. Consider these three “secret” beaches on your next getaway!

Puraran Beach, Baras, Catanduanes

For the perfect surfing spot with stunning waves and none of the onlookers, Puraran is the place for you. Situated in the southeast part of Luzon, the island of Catanduanes is known for frequent visits from typhoons. which result in “Majestic,” the appropriate name for the fast, hollow, and high (as in six feet tall) right-handed barrel waves the beach is famous for.  You can easily go to Puraran by catching a flight from Manila to the island’s capital of Virac. From there, just take a jeep or habalhabal (motorcycle) to Baras, and you can find the beach in no time because all the locals know it!

Sila Beach, San Vicente, Samar

Pink. Beach. Enough said. Sila Beach in the northern coast of Samar is a must-go for some serious time out from the noise of the city. It’s the perfect addition to your Instagram feed because pink is always in!

Panampangan Island, Bongao, Tawi- Tawi

Dubbed by the locals as a Virgin Island, this beach (and one of the longest sandbars at 3 kilometers from end to end) beckons with its soft white sand and crystal-clear waters that lap at your feet.  Don’t even think of bringing your own tent or sleeping bags as overnight stays aren’t allowed. There aren’t hotels nearby, so make the most out of your trip and explore this breathtaking site.
